Leaving everything behind

This picture is very important for me because it was taken before travelling to the United States. The girls next to me are my cousins whom I love very nuch and we feel that we are sisters and not cousins. I was four years old when my mother and I left our family behind in search of a better life in the United States. 

The hardest thing was leaving my grandma behind because I grew up with her and spent most of the time with her while my mom was at work. I know that the change was specially hard for my mom and at times she would be very sad, but she would try to hide it so that I would think everything was ok.

We eventually got used to life there in California and I learned the language really fast. It was an overall positive experience but I will never forget all the hardships because it reminds me that my mom is a strong person who was willing to leave her life behind to give me a better one.

 

Out of time

This year it seems I hardly have ay time to do the things I like. I'm so busy with work, studies and my relationship that I have very Little time to do certain things that relax me and that are only about me.
I spend weekends with my boyfriend, which are the highlight of my entire week, doing different things and we both really enjoy discovering new things but also some things that are part of our essential routine.
Every Sunday we watch two or three episodes of Adventure Time which we both are totally into. We think that Adventure Time is both fun and clever so it's appealing for both children and grown ups. This is such an important part of our weekend that we feel that if we didn't watch Adventure Time one weekend we might jink everything! I know this is silly but that's how we feel about it.
I think that it's important for everyone to have some time for themselves to do things that make them feel like an individual. Well, at least that's what I think. What do you think?

My expectations for this semester:Blog 2

My expectations for this year
I'm also studying. I'm trying to finish my Masters so I really hope my thesis project is accepted and that I'll get a good grade! I would like to pursue further studies, but that will depend on how other things in my life work out.
I don't like all my subjects, but I understand that they are all purposeful and important. I just wish I had more time to read all the things I need to and to process everything well, maybe if I were only studying and didn't have to work. This doesn't mean I don't like teaching, as a matter of fact; I am studying so that I can be a better teacher for my students. What are your impressions about academic life this semester?
